The National Science Foundation (NSF) is looking for STEM educators to honor with a Presidential Award.The Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) program is pleased to announce that nominations and applications for the historic 40th year of PAEMST are now open to K-6th grade teachers!
Through sharing information about PAEMST with your members and encouraging them to nominate a teacher or apply themselves, you can elevate the prestige of their careers. We have included sample outreach messaging for you to use and customize in an attachment. We hope you will consider nominating a talented K-6 STEM teacher – go to paemst.nsf.gov to nominate today. We welcome multiple nominations if you know more than one teacher deserving of this award. The 2023–2024 nomination deadline is January 8, 2024, and the application deadline is February 6, 2024. Celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, PAEMST is the nation’s highest honor for teachers of STEM. Presidential Awardees receive a certificate signed by the President; a trip to Washington, D.C., to attend a series of recognition events and professional development opportunities; a $10,000 award from the National Science Foundation; and join a community of over 5,200 award-winning teachers. Engineering Faculty SurveyThe University of Houston is gathering data about the lingering impacts crises and policy changes have on the teaching, research, and service obligations of underrepresented minority engineering faculty. Your responses will help summarize the types of changes made at universities as well as how these changes are continuing to impact underrepresented minority faculty success.
Please take part in this online survey which should take approximately 15 minutes to complete. Those who complete the survey will receive a $10 Visa Gift Card. In addition, they are seeking interview participants to provide qualitative perspectives. Interview participants will receive a $100 Visa Gift Card.
