The West New York Board of Education hosted the Latinas In STEM Foundation's "From the Earth to the Stars, Over the Moon With Barbie" event at the WNY Middle School on Saturday. The public had the opportunity to see science, technology, engineering and mathematics projects developed by district students, listen to STEM professional discuss their STEM journeys, and visit with 2 dozen exhibitors that showcase and the important role women are playing in STEM education and career paths.

Thanks to the generosity of American Water and the Overdeck Family Foundation, a NJ STEM Month mini-grants of $500 was awarded to Latinas in STEM for our upcoming NJ Community Event. These grants are awarded to different organizations to support their STEM Month events.
11/1/2025 Our 1st community event showcasing our partnership with the Barbie Dream Gap Project took place on a beautiful autumn day at the Mount Rainier Nature Center in Maryland on November 1st. We provided a safe and educational day for family fun, along with many local exhibitors focusing on STEM and the environment.

Celebrating trailblazer Dr. Ellen Ochoa, Barbie is donating $25,000 to Latinas in STEM to help empower the next generation of Latina girls to reach for the stars!
We’re excited to be awarded a STEM Action Grant from Society for Science! The STEM Action Grants program supports mission-driven nonprofit organizations working to expand opportunities for their local communities to engage and participate in STEM. Our first "Cafecito & Connections" networking event took place on July 27 at Cortaditos Cuban Cafe in Belleville, NJ. We talked about Latinas in STEM's initiatives, being a woman in today’s work environments, and exciting projects some people were working on. More "Cafecito" events coming soon!!
