This Hispanic Heritage Month, we’re thrilled to announce that
Latinas in STEM is partnering with Barbie
to honor Dr. Ellen Ochoa, the first Latina astronaut in space! 

Thanks to Barbie’s generous support,
we’ll be rolling out a yearlong series of events
​designed to inspire and empower the next generation of Latinas in STEM.

​Get ready for an out-of-this-world morning in Passaic, NJ! 






​​On Thursday, May 28th, Latinas in STEM volunteers are headed to the Ellen Ochoa School #22 in Passaic, NJ. Supported by the Barbie Dream Gap Project, these mentors will help fourth graders build their own telescopes and share their personal STEM journeys to inspire the next generation of space explorers.

​West New York, NJ

Another fun-filled family day on March 28, 2026 as The West New York Board of Education hosted
Latinas In STEM and the Barbie Dream Gap Project at the West New York Middle School. 
Over 700 attendees had the opportunity to see science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics projects developed by district students,
​as well as 22 exhibitors, 7 presenters, all showcasing the important role women are playing in STEM education and career paths.

 Latinas in STEM and the Barbie Dream Gap Project ignited young minds on November 1, 2025 in Mount Rainier, MD, as we enjoyed a beautiful afternoon of family fun exploring the exciting world of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM)!

Space Through Her Eyes - Inspiring the next generation of STEM Stars

Latinas in STEM and the Barbie Dream Gap Project presented an empowering virtual panel on October 14, 2025 where we met incredible Latinas shaping the aerospace industry as they shared their journeys, challenges, and the sparks that launched their STEM careers.
